mashups

Here is my mashup! I created a puzzle from a dinosaur poster. I think mashups can be useful in local history section to craet images, calendars and posters. In general library can use it in promotional activities when creating fliers and posters , to make them more attractive.

Podcsats

I like the idea of podcasts. In library setting they can be useful for any updates on recent and regular events at the library such as story times, writers festivals, general information about library, newly added resources and popular titles available at libraries.

Answer boards and social searching

It's a valuable tool to have when you really stuck with something. However you still rely on your own instincts and commonn sense to get the best suitable answer for your questions. You still have to sift through lots of responses to get the best one.
In Answer boards, how can one determine that answers are provided by a qualified librarian.
Answer Board Librarys Wiki can be useful in Public and Academic libraries to serve customers in remote areas, housebound customers or may be a substitute for ILL's.

Delicious and Technorati

it's really delicious! I loved it. I always used to think how can I keep track of my favourite websites and links - writing on a piece of paper and shove them in the diary or handbag and never find them again or add to favourites at my PC but when I use another PC, they are not there and it's such a long list as well.
I think Delicious is very useful for librarians in repetitive reference enquiries at times of HSC or school assignments. It is a very useful tool for School students and teachers to organise there online information resources. Definitley I am going to use it. I already created an account and sort my links tonight sometime.

Technorati
Sounds like a food chain or production line, few new things come along then few others to manage them!
I searched for bookmobile as a basic search and come up with 426 results. Then I did advanced tag search, that yielded 21 results. I had a look at blogs , photos and Videos. There was one video that I liked, is Camel bookmobile in Kenya. I guess everywhere in the world librarians are trying their best to meet users information needs.
Librarything is next!

Videos

I checked both Google Video and You Tube. I prefer to use Google Video than You Tube. It's more organised and easy to use. It also shows videos from You Tube as well so Google is a one stop shop for everything.Libraries can use this to share their expertise and important events. Penrith Library has gone through a big refurbishment recently and we can see moving shelves on the You Tube. Following link will take you there:

Wikis

Wikis are great for projects and group assignments as compare to e-mails. I am using Wiki in my distance education to do a group assignment. Some times it feels like a dashboard or a noticeboard where everyone is writing their notes for others in their team. I think Wiki's are really good as internal staff newsletter where everyone can add and go to read latest happenings in one go rather than e-mails.

week 4 RSS feeds

I am back again after a busy time. Full time work, children, study and learning this new tecnology, any thing you can imagine for 21st century women!
I think RSS feeds are great to keep up with your favourite websites. In this way you can check them all at one place when ever you need them. We don't need to sift through all the junk mail that we receive often via our e-mails.
In my RSS feeds I found this Interesting link called, The Shifted Librarian. There are intersting articles. Check it yourself.
